About Me
From a Detroit Kiosk to a Worldwide Studio
My name is Steve. I started this business under the name Perfect Image Portraits from a mall kiosk on the east side of Detroit with nothing but a love for airbrush, one compressor, and a willingness to outwork every doubt. From that small table to AirbrushShirt.com, every step happened because customers trusted me with their names, their memories, and their moments. I am grateful — every time someone wears my work across the city, across the country, or around the world, it reminds me why I started.
The Kiosk
East Side of Detroit
I started with a single folding table, one airbrush compressor, and a dream. Perfect Image Portraits was born at a kiosk inside a mall on the east side of Detroit. That little table taught me how to paint fast, paint clean, and treat every customer like my only customer.
First In-Line Store
Same Mall · Detroit
By 2009, the kiosk outgrew itself. I moved into a 1,500 square foot in-line store inside the same mall, with walls of color, racks of custom tees, and a counter where people could watch their design come to life in real time.
Standalone Storefront
Detroit
By 2019, I had built enough trust to open my own standalone storefront. Families, teams, schools, and whole neighborhoods came through — birthdays, memorials, reunions, and game-day sets.
Commercial & Office Space
Detroit
I leveled up again into a multi-tenant commercial and office building — more space, more production, and more ability to handle big events, group orders, and wholesale partnerships without losing the one-on-one quality.
